About this initiative

In several Viennese care homes, residents living with dementia spend most of the day without structured activities. This initiative brings trained music therapists into four homes for weekly group sessions, using familiar songs and simple instruments to spark memory, movement and conversation.

Klangbrücke Wien is a Vienna-based association of music therapists working with older adults. It partners with care homes to run regular therapeutic music sessions and trains care staff to keep musical moments going between visits.
